Late 18th Century Chapeau

Late 18th century style straw hat, made to go with a chemise a la reine I'm working on. The brim is turned up at the back and secured with a pin and pearls. It is decorated with a cream box pleated ribbon, accented with a thin pink grosgrain ribbon, a white ostrich feather, plump pink peony and brooch of pearls and diamond rhinestones.

All of the details were handsewn to the hat by me, except for the brooch which is pinned onto the peony.

Not bad for a hat I picked up secondhand for $1.99.
